Old England Paris had been a bridgehead of English elegance in Paris since the nineteenth century. Before its door at No. 12 Boulevard des Capucines was permanently closed a few years ago, Old England was the place in Paris to go for anyone who had on his mind the choicest tweed, flannel and cashmere clothing from across the Channel.

The duck on one of the labels suggests that the maker of the scarf is Drake’s, when it was still a behind-the-scenes maker supplying fine ties and scarves for a number of luxury labels.
