Uno Souyou Jade-Porcelain Accessory Set
Uno Souyou Jade-Porcelain Accessory Set
An extremely rare set of accessories, consisting of a pair of cufflinks and a tie bar, crafted by Uno Souyou, Showa era Japanese master potter. Master Uno, who dedicated a lifetime to re-discovering the long lost art of 10th century Chinese pottery and whose craftsmanship was recognized by the Japanese government with the highest official honor, occasionally ventured into crafting smaller porcelain artifacts like this set. The stones on the cufflinks and the tie bar are known as jade-porcelain: chinaware with a superlative glaze meant to mimic jade. The craftsmanship of premium jade-porcelain of such medieval Chinese style is so sophisticated that makes the porcelain far more valuable than jade.
The stones are set on sterling silver hardware. The set comes in a kiri wood box signed by Master Uno in traditional Japanese calligraphy. It also comes with an introduction of Master Uno’s life and work, printed on a beautiful piece of washi paper.
